A Wildlife Menagerie
Life along the Canadian River
A true ecosystem, the Lit Ranch is a habitat to a diverse population of wild animals. Some prey on each other and all thrive in a hospitable environment.
Spring ponds host a wide variety of fish from trout to catfish to large mouth bass. Not all the big ones are caught.
Wing shooting was never better than quail hunting on the LIT. The bird population is equally divided between blues and bobs. The quail have a real friend in Antonio Miranda, the game-keeper. Antonio keeps grain out during the winter to provide a helpful supplement during the sometimes harsh winter weather.
Wild turkey herds are joined in the winter by migrating ducks. The ducks stay close to the springs that don’t freeze over and can be seen at sunset flying off to local grain fields
